Back for July
Hi! So remember how last month I said I would start a monthly recap. Well its already time for a recap!! 7/4 - Mitten flea market event The month started with an event for the Mitten in Korea. It was a collective between me, Emily, and another guy. Together we had organized drives in each of our respective apartments and then decided to sell at a local flea market in our neighborhood. Honestly, the flea market itself ended up being a success, with us raising over $500 total a

My common app essay turned me into a journalist for a second
Recently, I've been spending a lot of time working on college applications, which unfortunately means I've also been spending a lot of time thinking about my life. Specifically, I've been working on my personal statement. One thing I didn't expect while writing it was how many random memories would suddenly come back to me. Moments I hadn't thought about in years somehow became relevant again as I tried to figure out where some of my interests came from. little me in the fact

What's up with the sargassum in Punta Cana?
Hi guys. So.. Honestly I made this post because I was curious, and in case you guys want to check out what I learned, thanks for reading! One thing that really surprised me during my trip to Punta Cana was ruined by the amount of sargassum on the beach. blurry photo.. but the black stuff @ the shorline is sargassum If you've never heard of it before, sargassum is basically a type of floating seaweed that drifts around the Atlantic Ocean. Sounds pretty harmless, right? Better

This month has been......
Hi guys, I've been thinking about different ways I could expand this blog and I thought "Why don't I start a photo dump?" Every month on Instagram, I post a 20-photo dump of the month. While it's a great way to let people know how I've been doing and what I've been doing, I always found it a bit of a pity that I can't really explain what happened in each photo. SO, this blog is basically going to act as a photo dump, but with each photo, I'll explain how this month has been.

Dominican Republic Mitten Outreach Trip
Hi All! I know it's been a while... but I'm back!! The past few months have honestly been insane. Finishing junior year was, without a doubt, the hardest and most grueling few months of my life. But now that it's officially over, I'm so excited to put more energy into the parts of my life I've been neglecting... including this blog. It's already been a month since school ended, and somehow I've managed to pack a lot into those four weeks. I finally read an entire book for fun

Belize Trip Recap
Hi All! Welcome back to another blog post. In this one, I plan to recap my spring break, with a particular focus on an exciting school trip to Belize that taught me a great deal about tropical ecology and conservation. view from the island The trip was a school outing with about 12 freshmen to seniors. At first, I was scared because I’d signed up without asking any friends, so I didn’t know anyone. I strongly considered dropping out, worried about being alone. Ultimately,

Sustainable Living Habits
The past month and a half have been quite eventful. Not only has junior year become more hectic with classwork piling up, but a lot has been going on at my school's sustainability club, called Students for Sustainability (S4S), for short. I have been in contact with heads of similar organizations from other boarding schools/private schools, and together we have been planning a student-run food waste competition where each school competes to see who can produce the least amo

The Mitten Success!!
HEYYYYY guys, Welcome back!! It’s honestly been a really rough month, and it felt like one too many thorns, but I'm just thankful that it's now winter break and I’m finally back home from school. Junior year midterms were something that I don’t think anything could’ve really prepared me for. To sum it up in one word, COOKED. However, one notable achievement was the Mitten's first successful clothing drive. For those of you who don't know, the Mitten is an NGO that I run.

Exploring the City through Sustainability
This year, during my Thanksgiving stay in New York, after finally getting off campus for the first time in months, I plan on exploring New York through the lens of sustainability. Instead of getting swept up in Black Friday sales and endless leftovers, I’m going to spend my holiday weekend exploring all the sustainable gems New York City has to offer. From thrifting adventures to zero-waste shopping and farm-to-table meals, I’ll get to learn more about New York City and all i

Searching for Sustainability in Fashion (A 4 Days Trip in Antwerp)
Why Antwerp? Antwerp Central Train Station When I set out to explore the meaning of sustainability in fashion, Antwerp immediately caught my eye. The city’s fashion history is deeply tied to the Antwerp Six , a group of visionary designers from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts who put Antwerp on the global fashion map. Beyond the runways, I wanted to see how sustainability manifests in real life by visiting shops, museums, and engaging in conversations with designers. Day 1 – F

Welcome to a My Journey
